A popular rock band of the 1990s is reuniting for the first time in a decade with a new lead singer.
Snot, a hard rock/nu metal band, announced a small number of reunion tour dates in January and February with guitarists Mikey Doling and Sonny Mayo, bassist John “Tumor” Fahnestock and drummer Jamie Miller. The lineup will include a new vocalist whose identity will not be revealed before their first concert, however.
Blabbermouth reports Doling told the “Talk Toomey” podcast that he was inspired to get the band back together after seeing similar acts on festival lineups in 2024, including Coal Chamber and Mudvayne.
“So I talked to the dudes. We didn’t even have a singer at that point. So anyway, so I reached out to the band and said, ‘Hey, man, I think we should find a singer and play some festivals and have some fun.’ And they were, like, ‘Yeah, well, we’re in if you can find us the right singer,’” Doling said.
But finding a vocalist to replace Lynn Strait proved to be a challenge. Strait and his dog, who appeared on the cover of Snot’s debut album in 1997, were killed in a car crash in 1998. Snot disbanded, but released a tribute album in 2000 with an all-star lineup of guest singers like Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath, Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst, KoRn’s Jonathan Davis, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, Incubus’ Brandon Boyd, and System of a Down’s Serj Tankian.
Snot previously reunited in 2008 with Tommy “Vext” Cummings on vocals and again in 2014 with singer Carl Bensley. Doling won’t say who the band’s mysterious new lead singer will be, except that a friend recommended them.
“It just punched me in the face how good it was. I was, like, ‘Wow, this is the guy,’” Doling said, according to Blabbermouth. “He did, like, five songs and he was absolutely incredible, nailing it. He looks right. He’s got the whole punk vibe that we’re looking for. And he just nailed it, man… Singing like Lynn Strait is not easy, man. And he absolutely f—ing rocked it, to the point where I had to sit down; I was so blown away.”
